We prepare and file birth certificate applications with state vital records offices on your behalf.

What we do

You answer one set of questions, upload a photo of your ID and sign on your screen. We check the application against the state's rules, file it with the office that holds the record, and keep you posted until the office mails your certified copy.

What we are not

We are a private company, not a government agency. We do not issue certificates and have no special access to records. The issuing office decides every application.

Every office accepts applications directly, usually for a lower fee. Each state page links to the office so you can compare.

BirthChek is a private company. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any federal, state, territorial or local government office.

We charge a service fee to prepare your application, file it with the issuing vital records office, and follow it through until the office mails your certified copy. The certificate itself is always issued by the government office, and the office's own fee is shown separately at checkout.

You can order a certified birth certificate directly from the issuing state's or territory's vital records office, usually for less. Each state page on our site links to the official office.
